January Survival Guide
Yes, it is January – but this isn’t a time for negativity! January has plenty of positives, you just have to dig a little deeper to find them!
You’ve made it through to another year, be thankful! Here are some ways to stay cheerful throughout January.
- Go for dinner – Most restaurants have incredible special offers in January, so plan a date night and cheer someone else up too!
- Make plans – Research events coming up in the year and sign yourself up, why not look for charity events to get involved in?
- New year, new you! – Use the new year to bring positive change into your life. Decide what you want to achieve this year, and make a strategic plan so that you actually stick to it.
- Appreciate the small things – Take time to appreciate and be grateful for all the small lovely things that happen every day. If it starts to rain, be grateful for your umbrella! If you’re feeling cold then light the fire and be glad of the warmth.
- Make others happy – Be aware that everyone else is probably feeling a little mopey too, so make it your mission to cheer everyone else up. Buy your loved ones little gifts in the January sales, take cookies to work or just smile at strangers.
- Enjoy binge-watching some excellent tv shows on Netflix!
- Go on holiday – embrace the cold and go skiing! Or you could go further afield and seek out some sunshine!
- Get a bodyclock lamp. – This will make getting up in the mornings so much easier.
- Get pampered – Go and get your nails done, or treat yourself to a haircut.
- Try out some new recipes – Resist the urge to cheer yourself up with junk food! Stock up on fruit and veg and make yourself some delicious veggie dishes. I love carrot and coriander soup. You could even take part in Veganuary if you fancy challenging yourself.
- Listen to your favourite songs, or choose a cheerful playlist to brighten your commute.
Good luck, and remember, Spring is just around the corner! How do you stay positive in January? Please leave your thoughts below!
