We were given a sneak preview of the menu and I was pleased to see that there is a whole vegetarian afternoon tea menu, which looks excellent. There is also a whole separate gluten-free menu too! I sampled some of the vegetarian sandwiches, and they were delicious, not scrimping on the fillings, and the bread was soft and fresh.
The produce they use is all locally sourced, and the eggs are free range, which is excellent. There is a vast array of cakes, with plenty to choose from. I sampled a millionaire shortbread which was deliciously decadent, and was washed down with a lovely cup of tea.

Bertie’s Coffee Lounge and Tea Room
Located in Elland near Halifax, Bertie’s is one of the area’s best-known events venues and has been well-established for over 35 years. The building was constructed in the 1850’s and has been used primarily for events, however, it has now converted its ground floor Victorian lounge into a tea room which will be open weekdays from 10am-4pm.
I had a great time at the VIP day for Bertie’s Coffee Lounge & Tea Room, and I very much enjoyed sampling the afternoon tea.
I love the vintage style mismatched china and the beautiful flowers. With most things, it is the extra attention to detail which really makes things special.

I think it is an excellent idea to use the venue for afternoon tea throughout the week, and I am sure they will be very successful. Hopefully next time I visit the sun will be shining and I’ll be able to enjoy my afternoon tea out on the patio.
The Grand Opening of Bertie’s is on the 28th May 2018, and from then they will be serving their afternoon tea Monday – Friday 10am-4pm.
